Hi & welcome back to my Week in the Life album. Here’s a look at day 1 for me. I decided to start with Sunday – April 16th. Easter Sunday. Since this was not a typical week for me, I decided to just go-for it and start on Sunday to capture our Easter celebrations. With a house full of family for the week, it was a perfect opportunity to capture everyday life with family! Definitely a switch from our “normal” life of 2 +fur-baby!
I normally capture all my stories in a travellers notebook throughout the week, then spend the time to type things up in Photoshop Elements afterwards. I kept to Ali’s formula and did all my journaling in batches. It definitely streamlined the process.
I did purchase and use the word art called Daily Story Boxes that can be found in Ali’s shop. I changed the colour of each day to match the transparency divider for the day. Sunday was a light blue colour as seen above. I used this same simple formula for all my journaling pages.
To note: I am also participating in Ali Edwards Type class and used the digital layered templates available in the class as the base for my journaling. If you have never taken an Ali Edwards class – I highly recommend it!
Sunday – Page 2
Includes the remaining of my journaling, a 1/2 page photo and a circle embellishment. I also kept the same formula as Ali’s with the 6×4 page protector. I chose to include the large (day of the week) vellum cutout on the bottom. This formula is used again for consistency throughout the album. Digital word art “EGGS – let’s do this thing” from the April monthly digitals (Ali’s shop) was added directly to the 3×4 photo in Photoshop Elements. I also added a circle “wahoo” embellishment on top of a “starburst” white card-stock which was punched using a Tim Holtz punch. Both are then stapled directly to the word.
I mixed up the colours of my photos – some black and white and some colour – depending on the nature of the photo as well as the mood I was trying to create. Not too mention, some just looked better in black and white as they were grainy or just out of focus.
On the back of the 3×4 photo, I adhered one of the 3×4 cards from the kit – awesome memory and adhered an Avery index tab. ( I did fix it in my album and actually added a sentiment strip into the tab!- not shown here!) For the top 6×4 photo, I kept it simple with a circle embellishment, word strip and black and white photo. I repeat this formula as well. I’m really trying not to complicate things and have some repeatable elements to help with the cohesiveness of the album.
Sunday – Page 3
Another black and white photo, wordstrip & blue star on the left. On the right side, I kept the same 3×4 page protector formula from Ali. However, since I had extra 6×4 photos that I wanted to include, I chose to include them as a flip and added them directly into the album with another Avery index tab! In this case, I adhered 2 photos back to back and punched holes. A few word stickers and a little yellow star finished this one.
Page 4 – back of the 3×4 page protector. Simple, simple simple. Word stickers and the little banner flags from the kit. Called that one done!

On Sunday, I was very fortunate to be highlighted on Ali Edwards instagram account for a project I had shared on the Craft the Story Facebook group. This was soooooo cool for me that I decided to take a screenshot of the messages that came in that day and include this little “memory” in my album! This project was all about “stretching” our stash of digitals and using them to decorate Easter Eggs! The eggs looked amazing (if I can toot my own horn!) and of course I used Ali Edwards digital word art. The inspiration came from a tutorial and blog post from It’s Always Autumn. You can learn how to do it yourself and check out my blog post about it here. I love how versatile Ali’s products are and this was definitely a testament to that! If you loved “temporary tattoo’s” as a kid, you will love this! I did it on Easter eggs.. but really.. the possibilities are endless!
ok now back to the album!
Page 6 – more 6×4 flips!
As I had lots of photos on Sunday, I wanted to include the ones that were the most representative of my stories for the day. For this I adhered 2- 6×4 photos back to back and punched holes to include directly into the album. I love the “different feel” this gives the album with photos outside the page protectors. A few word stickers and index tabs and this was done! I did use Ali’s ink to stamp on the index tab paper and used last years WITL stamps for the sentiments. Ink used was Columbia’s crafters ink from Ali’s shop.
Page 7 – back of 6×4’s and final 6×8.
To complete my day, I included a full page 6×8 photo with large word art from Ali’s shop (love you) + a word strip from the kit and a little white star.
Lots of photos today but I’m so happy with how things turned out and that I was able to capture this celebration. More stories told – our stories matter!
Well – that’s it! Day 1 done! I hope you enjoyed my first day! Please come back to check out the rest of the album.
Enjoy your day & thank you for stopping by.
